... (the) name of Yalia (denotes) a quick-minded, sensitive nature.
It gives you a creative ability in art, music, singing, or fancywork
and an appreciation for refined surroundings. Your sociable nature
expresses affection, kindness, and thoughtfulness... [except from
the Kabalarian's web site, where over 30000 names are analyzed].
Since we are in an internet-related business, getting a short and memorable domain name was a top priority when selecting our company name. When selecting a domain name, I follow these simple rules:
- Shorter is better.
...while I would not recommend registering a 3-6 letter domain name that means absolutely nothing, 7 letters or less is still the preferable length for a domain name.
Note: If you end up with, or already have a long domain name, you might want to consider utilizing a domain redirect service like ShortURL.com in order to have an alternate domain name to your site that is short and easy to remember. This can als be used as an effective component of your online marketing strategy.
- Dot Com still rules
While new domain extensions abound, .com is still the king. Followed by .net, of course. While .net was intended for networks, it's pretty much become used for anything. The same has happened with the .org domain extension, but unless you are actually an organization or an informational/not-for-profit web site, I would recommend against using registering a .org domain. Unless you are just doing so to protect others from taking it (see protecting your domain name).
- Avoid dashes and numbers if possible
... the exception to this is if the number is integral to your name and you have both the alpha and numeric versions registered, i.e. thinksix.com
- Check the name and the meaning.
Before registering a domain name, I always do a search on Google to find out what sites are related to that name. I also do a comprehensive dictionary search to see if the name has possible alternate meanings. If your business is international in nature, also check meaning in any other language.
YALIA.com met all of these criteria, and thus Yalia Technology Design Group was born.
