What we know so far is that META TAGS alone won't make your site appear as relevant on Google. Increasing the quality and quantity of sites that link to you on the web will. This can involve a range of online marketing tactics, from submitting your site to other search engines and directories to posting information with your URL in your signature on newsgroups and bulletins boards, to participating in web rings and reciprocal link exchanges.
Traditional public relations tactics can also be of use. Get included in an article about your industry or specialty, in a traditional publication with an online presence. Also, think about volunteering for groups or joining organizations which list their member rosters (with your email address and web site, of course!) online.
Getting your site included in web site directories can be as simple as submitting them in the proper category for review. Some directories, however, are more discriminating than others when it comes to including sites. To give your site the best chances for being listed or reviewed favorably, spend time ensuring that your web site's content is engaging and comprehensive. If need be, work with a professional writer to improve the site's content, and be sure to proofread the final
copy before publishing it online.
